Take lots and lots of photos!

A professional photographer once told me of an occasion when he was tasked to photograph a head of state attending the grand opening of a building. He arrived hours early, staked out his spot. He took shadows, light and overhead wires into consideration. The leader emerged with his entourage and the photographer snapped off a couple of perfectly planned photos…until he got back to the darkroom and found that one of the leader’s aides had their finger up their nose right beside the subject! The photos were useless.

In this age of digital photography we have the luxury of being able to take hundreds or thousands of photographs at no additional cost. No longer do we carefully have to ration out the 24 or 36 photos on our roll…so snap away! The more you take, the more likely you are to perfectly capture that exact moment that you want.

Besides, you can always delete those that you don’t like later that evening at your hotel.
